DAMAGE CLAIMS

If you are seeking compensation from the Van Buren County Road Commission for property damage or bodily injury, please complete the Claim Form and return it together with required attachments to our Administrative Office located at 325 West James Street, Post Office Box 156, Lawrence, Michigan 49064.  Your claim will then be forwarded to our insurance administrator for processing.

Claims filed with the Van Buren County Road Commission are decided on a case-by-case basis by the Claims Staff at Michigan County Road Commission Self-Insurance Pool and are adjudicated based on Michigan laws.  The Van Buren County Road Commission has no authority to independently settle claims.

If your claim for damages arises from an alleged defect in a road under the jurisdiction of the Van Buren County Road Commission you must comply with all provisions of the attached statute, MCL 691.1404.  Failure to fully comply with all provisions of the statute will result in the denial of your claim.
